Gender sensitivity training to be strictly implemented by the DOLE
The Department of Labor and Employment has announced that the new labor attaches and welfare officers in the Middle East, particularly in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will go through an intensive training to develop gender-sensitivity skills.
Gender-sensitivity training is now an important part of the requirement for DOLE officials and employees who will be stationed abroad. We have intensified their training to enable them to properly address gender needs and issues in the Philippine Overseas Labor Offices (POLOs),” Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said in a statement.
According to a report by Arab News, gender-sensitivity training has always been part of preparations for all labor officials, but this time DOLE will strictly implement this to avoid further issues and scandals such as the sex-for-flight scheme.
The report also stated that OFWs all over Saudi "expressed relief and are expecting positive outcomes."
